In a society that seeks perfection, mistakes are often viewed as a failure rather than an opportunity for growth. Between constant comparison with the ideal self and internal pressures to achieve unrealistic goals, the desire to remain flawless creates a false reality for the mind.

Through the act of accepting and embracing my imperfections, As She Heals is a series that focuses on challenging social expectations of femininity to pave a path of self-acceptance. My work is an outlet to both process my emotions with loss and disappointment, and to create a world where I feel I can exist freely, without any pressure from external forces. I am resisting perfectionism and am learning self-acceptance in the process.

Through self-portraiture and the landscapes I photograph, I am establishing my place in a world of my creation. The utilization of high-contrast images operates to express emotional intensity and creates a surreal quality that lends itself to this fictional world. This project mirrors and bridges the incongruity I experience between my thoughts and reality.
